YEREVAN—The recent adoption by
the European Parliament of a report urging the return of
Nagorno-Karabakh to Azeri rule could have been prevented, the
head of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s Supreme Council
in Armenia said on Tuesday.
SOFIA, Bulgaria (Yerkir)—Slamming
a report presented at the European Parliament on Thursday,
Armenian Revolutionary Federation parliamentary faction chairman
Vahan Hovannesian on Friday warned that efforts by the European
Union to establish partnerships are in danger, given the
damaging precedent set by the above report.
BOSTON, MA – A petition campaign
created by a broad coalition of Boston-area Jewish and Armenian
groups and community members has surpassed its original goal of
10,000 signatures and continues to gain support. The online
petition hosted by
Change.org urges U.S. officials to stand up to Turkey’s
multi-million dollar campaign of genocide denial, specifically
calling on Congress and President Obama to officially recognize
the Armenian Genocide.

opened its doors on Sunday May 16 at an inauguration ceremony
attended by the community members and activists.

is organized by the Armenian National Committee of America –

YEREVAN (Combined
Sources)—Visiting president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the
Council of Europe, Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters Thursday that
it was his own decision to not visit Dzidzernagapert and, as a
result, disrespect the 1.5 million victims of the Armenian
Genocide.

Gulbenkian Foundation Grants
$25,000 to ARF Archives Institute
MONTEBELLO—The Armenian section of the Galouste Gulbenkian
Foundation, once again, has provided a grant of $25,000 to the
Armenian Revolutionary Federation Archives Institute for
digitizing the vast archives of the organization.
Institute Executive Director, Vatche Proodian, expressed his
gratitude to the Foundation for the response to the grant
request.
He
thanked the Foundation’s Armenian section directors Martin
Esayan and Zaven Yegavian for this new grant and added that
just like the previous grant, the funds will be allocated
toward digitizing the archives and their respective indices.
Proodian also added that the digitizing project is already
underway.

Prototype Genocide of Modern Times” in partnership with Zoryan
Institute and governments of the State of Sao Paulo and the
Republic of Armenia
ATLANTA, GA – The Armenian
community of Georgia was joined by state and local officials in
commemorating the Armenian Genocide at an annual program held at
the State Capitol, organized by Dr. Sarkis Agasarkisian and
Aroutioun Agasarkisian, chairman of the Armenian National
Committee of Georgia.
YEREVAN—The Armenian
Revolutionary Federation announced Tuesday that it will boycott
all meetings and events related to Wednesday's visit by Mevlut
Cavusoglu, the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of
Council of Europe, citing the leader’s expressed refusal to
visit the Dzidzernagapert Memorial Monument.
In Yerevan, the commemorative day
began with senior state, military, and diplomatic officials
laying wreathes at the World War II memorial in Yerevan’s
Victory Park and concluded with a solemn ceremony at the
Yerablur National Cemetery. The anniversary falls on the same
day the war against Nazi Germany was over.
STEPANAKERT—Leaders of the
Armenian Revolutionary Federation Hai-Tahd committees headed to
Stepanakert over the weekend and met with Nagorno-Karabakh
Republic President Bako Sahakian and parliament speaker Ashot
Ghoulyan.
WASHINGTON, DC–Rep. Adam Schiff
(D-CA) on Wednesday launched an effort to parallel H. Res. 252,
the Congressional resolution he introduced to recognize and
commemorate the Armenian Genocide, by calling on survivors of
the genocide carried out by the Ottoman Empire from 1915 to
1923, as well as their family members and descendants, to submit
their stories and memories for inclusion into the Congressional
Record.
